Joe Sageman is a PhD student in the Princeton department of sociology. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2017 with a B.A. in political science. Prior to his arrival at Princeton, he taught high school math in the Arkansas Delta for two years. In addition, he coached basketball and football, worked on political campaigns, and advised non-profits engaged in educational equity and community organizing work. His research interests include educational inequality, neighborhood effects, and wealth disparities in the United States.
